About the Library Co-Directors

Meet Alvina Reitsma and Denise Bohnet, our Co-Directors at the Sanborn Public Library.

Alvina Reitsma became Director in May of 2007. She was our children's librarian for the past two years and hopes to continue to do so! She enjoys seeing the children come to the library for story hour and seeing how they grow with each month that they attend! Lots of things are being planned for the new library. We are hoping to incorporate many classes for both children and adults at the library. We are excited to become Co-Directors!

Alvina's husband is Larry. He has his own construction company, E & R Construction, Inc. Their three children are all married and living elsewhere. They also love their eight grandchildren, all under the age of seven! We are considered interstate grandparents, because we are on the road traveling back and forth to see them! Alvina is an avid quilter and loves to garden!

Denise Bohnet has been at the library since March of 2006.  She started as a substitute librarian and on June of 2007 became the adult librarian. She is now Co-Director with Alvina.  She enjoys working with people of all ages, and hopes to foster their love of reading.

Mark is Denise's husband, and is a teacher at Northwest Iowa Community College.  Justin their son is married to Cassy and they have moved to Boulder, CO.  Rebecca attends UNI and is a junior this year.  In her spare time Denise likes to read, knit, and garden.
